Rooted & Radiant — A 30 Day Faith + Wellness Photography Journey

I believe photography isn’t really about the photos… it’s about noticing & capturing life while it’s actually happening.

The side glance. The laugh in between sentences. The steam in your morning coffee. The tiny hummingbird dances back & forth between sips of nectar.

Life moves fast — and lately I realized I didn’t want to rush past the very moments I tell my clients to treasure.

Part of that shift came after reading The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer. It hit me that a meaningful life grows in unhurried intention, when you create time to pause and reflect.  I've made a decision to practice an intentional unhurried life.

Last year, I signed up for a 30 day challenge that was hosted by GetUFit Fitness & Nutrition based out of Woodstock, Illinois.  One of the requirements was to stop a bad habit for the duration of the challenge.  The habit I stopped was Diet soda.   Diet soda was a daily staple for a long period of my life.    I truly believed I would not be capable of continuing not drinking it.  Know what? I do not even miss it.  This small change in my life taught me that it is possible for me to make changes big or small once I turn my mindset around.  GetUFit's challenge was a part of the inspiration for Rooted & Radiant.

I decided to create a challenge for myself that incorporated my faith, my photography & wellness in hopes that each becomes more prevalent and natural.  I wanted to share what I put together and invite you to join me.

Introducing Rooted & Radiant — 30 Days

A faith + wellness + creativity journey designed to help you reconnect with God, your days, and the beauty already around you.

Not a diet. Not a pressure challenge. A rhythm reset.

For 30 days I will practice simple habits that strengthen spirit, mind, and body:

  • Bible study ~ daily
  • 20 minutes of movement ~ daily
  • 10,000 steps daily
  • 64 oz of water ~ daily
  • Have a designated “Cell Phone in a Drawer” Day (minimum 10 hours while awake)
  • A themed daily photo reflection

Each day includes a photo prompt ~ no over thinking required.

Why Photography Is Part of this Challenge

When you  take a photo, you need to stop. You see light instead of rushing past it. You notice people instead of tasks. You remember days instead of surviving them.

In my opinion, photography helps build gratitude.

Gratitude changes perspective. Perspective changes how you live.

A fancy camera is not required.  Your phone is enough. This isn't about perfect photos, it's about seeing what you believe relates to the daily theme.

How This Connects To Photos

Most people think photography is only for big events — weddings, seniors, anniversaries. But most beautiful images come from unexpected sources.  You just need to be present & aware

When you’re comfortable being present, your photos stop feeling staged and start feeling like you.

That’s the heart of my work — not stiff smiles, but moments that I have the pleasure of capturing.

Who This Is For

You’ll love this if you: - Feel rushed through your days - Want a practical way to reconnect with your faith - Crave healthier habits without pressure  - Want to be more present with the people you love

No experience needed. No perfect schedule required. Just willingness.

What You’ll Gain

By the end of 30 days I believe you will notice: - A deeper connection to faith - More gratitude and awareness -  Consistency in habits - Less mental clutter - A better understanding of why you should pause & see the beauty.

Why I’m Sharing This As A Photographer

Photography isn’t created in the camera. It’s created in the way we experience moments first.

Rooted & Radiant may help you have a deeper appreciation of slowing down.  Pausing, reflecting & appreciating our personal experience.

Follow along this month as I share prompts, reflections, and participant images in my stories.

Slow down enough to see all things beautiful. Rooted & Radiant will begin February 15, 2026.  Consider joining me!
