Dear Tamaira, What was your very first camera?
I was extremely interested in photography when I was seventeen years old! I was fortunate enough to take photography as an elective course during my senior year of high-school. My father supported my interest and gifted me my very first camera in 1986. A Minolta X-370! My 35mm film, SLR camera worked well for what my needs were at the time. I could not wait to learn everything I need to know to use it. My favorite part was getting into the dark room (YES, dark room!) and watching my carefully crafted images come to life. I took pictures of anyone and everything. Fun Fact: I still do! My grandmother, also supported my new hobby and made my very first camera strap complete with my initials, TAF, boldly crossed stitched amongst beautiful flowers - something I will always treasure.
I haven't looked at this camera in a very long time. It is absolutely amazing to see how far technology has come since my 1986 introduction. To think of what needed to be done to set your camera for the perfect shot then to not know the outcome until it was the film was developed.
